Three versions of the 2014 Audi R8 luxury coupe are available — the V8, with a starting price of $114,900, the V10, opening at $151,200 and the v10 Plus beginning at $170,545.
All three have six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive, and are available as convertibles.
The 4.2liter V8 pumps out 430hp and 317lb/ft of torque, and can do 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 188mph. Fuel efficiency figures come in at 14mpg combined (11mpg in the city and 20mpg on the highway).
Meanwhile, the 5.2-liter V10 releases 525hp and 391lb/ft of torque — pushing it from 0-60mph in just 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 196mph and fuel efficiency ratings of 12mpg (14mpg city/19mpg highway).
The 5.2liter V10 Plus is even quicker, doing 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 198mpg. It produces a massive 550hp and 398 lb/ft of torque while maintaining the same fuel efficiency figures as the standard V10.
Depending on model type, the R8 comes with LED headlights and taillights, LED interior lights, and LED engine compartment lights.
Additional highlights include a tire pressure censoring system, front, side and knee safety air bags, heated leather seats with a lumbar tweaking function, Bluetooth, seven to 12-speaker surround sound system supplying 465 watts, heated side mirrors, and finally dual exhaust.
The substantial difference in price range means potential buyers whether a cool car is enough — or whether they need something with simply outrageous power.
If we compare the V8 to the V10 Plus, the V8 provides 25 less horsepower, 81 lb/ft less torque, is 0.7 seconds slower when going 0-60mph, and its top road speed reaches 188mph, not 198mph like the V10 Plus. But that extra 10mph will cost you a hefty $55,645.
Either way, you’re not going to go unnoticed driving one of these around. The 2014 Audi R8 is a luxurious, powerful — and flashy — vehicle whichever of the three models you go for.
