It’s been fifty years since Hertz decided to do something totally crazy and start renting out its then-new Shelby Mustang GT350-H to customers.
And to celebrate they’ve just introduced a new version of the vehicle, which can be rented from airports around the US from Memorial Day weekend if you fancy a bit of pony-car madness on your next holiday.
It’s the second time the rental car firm has reintroduced a GT-H to their their ‘Rent-a-Racer’ scheme, after the success of similar efforts for the 40th anniversary back in 2006.
The new Shelby, featuring the traditional GT-H gold racing stripes, has Ford’s 5.0liter V8 under the hood and has a vented hood, rear spoiler, and carbon fiber front splitter.
It also comes with the car’s special Race Handling Pack with lowering springs, sway bars and specially-tuned dampers. There will be 140 models of the Ford Shelby Hertz GT-H made.
The car will join the line-up in Hertz’s Adrenaline Collection – which also includes the Corvette Stringray, Dodge Challenger R/T, Chevy Camaro SS and SS Convertible, Corvette Convertible, and Ford Mustang GT.
They also have a Dream Cars collection, which includes the Porsche 911, Jaguar XJL, Mercedes-Benz G550 and Porsche Macan.
