Evo recently put a Caterham Seven 420R through its paces on the track for their Track Car of the Year tests – and now you can go along for the ride.
A new video of the test shows the perfectly-balanced motor tearing round their test track at Blyton Park, England, in 1:05.70, just ahead of the Vuhl 05’s 1:06.50.
While it might be nine seconds slower than their current leader the Radical RXC Spyder (which did it in 0:56.15, the evo team completely sang its praises – describing the car as “sublime”.
The 420R produces 210hp from a 2-liter Ford Duratec engine, and the model they tested is their own tuned-up spec. They said it wasn’t as aggressive as the 620R which they used in last year’s Track Car of the Year tests.
They said: “It’s just the most fun and the most satisfying thing. When you string a clean lap together in this car, it just feels perfect. You can’t imagine wanting to be in any car more.”
