The Italians do a lot of things well. Fashion, for instance. Fine food, good weather, beautiful scenery. And cars. So when Fiat revealed the 2017 124 Spider at the LA Auto Show this week it prompted a fierce debate on Reddit as to whether this was just a Miata in disguise, too Chrysler-esque, or a thing of beauty.
The 2017 124 Spider is based on the MX-5 Miata, with the same chassis, and Fiat’s parent company is obviously Fiat Chrysler, so these are all valid points. But whether the styling is worthy of praise, we’ll leave up to you.
Under the hood sits a 1.4liter turbocharged 160hp engine, delivering 184lb/ft of torque, and it comes with either automatic or manual transmission in a choice of two trims.
