Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing’s radical new AM-RB 001 hypercar
Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing have revealed one of the most incredible hypercars of all time — the AM-RB 001.
Powered by a stonking V12, the mid-engine two-seater monster will come in both road-going and track versions and has a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio, with 1hp for each kg of weight.
Between 99 and 150 road versions of the AM-RB 001 will be made and will be available to customers in early 2018. There will also be 25 track versions created to show off its racing calibre.
The AM-RB 001 was created with Aston’s flair for design as well as Red Bull Racing’s technical know-how and years of experience in Formula One.
One of the most stand-out features is the car’s aerodynamics which gives it more downforce than any other road-legal car, helping it stick to the Tarmac at even the highest speeds.
Red Bull Racing’s chief technical officer Adrian Newey said: “I knew Red Bull Racing had the ability to handle the pure performance aspects, but Aston Martin’s experience of making beautiful, fast and comfortable GT cars is of great benefit to the project.
“I’ve always been adamant that the AM-RB 001 should be a true road car that’s also capable of extreme performance on track, and this means it really has to be a car of two characters.
“That’s the secret we’re trying to put into this car – the technology that allows it to be docile and comfortable, but with immense outright capabilities.”
The Aston Martin Red Bull RAcing AM-RB 001 will be built at the car firm’s Gaydon HQ in Warwickshire, England.
