Graham is part of a project in Australia by the The Transport Accident Commission, designed to highlight road safety by showing how our bodies might look if we had evolved to survive being hit by a car at low speed.
The weird looking character has modifications to his head, arms chest, knees, lower legs and even his ears.
Taking his knee modifications as an exmaple, in an accident a pedestrians are often hit just as step out from the curb, this means the area of their knee is usually hit first. The big problem is that the knee really only bends one way and so it breaks and tendons are twisted.
Graham’s knees can move in all directions, with extra tendons that allow this wider range of movement.
You can read more about Graham at their website, where they have a great interactive 360 model.
