Bentley has confirmed it is going to make an SUV to rival models like the Porsche Cayenne.
The British firm promised a “powerful and exclusive” vehicle when the car eventually hits showrooms in 2016.
The Bentley SUV, which will be named at a later date, will be built in England.
It will be the fourth model line produced by the firm, famous for cars like the Flying Spur and Continental.
The move comes after potential customers were asked whether they would be interested in a Bentley SUV.
Bentley said the reception they got to the idea was “extremely positive”.
Dr Martin Winterkorn, chairman of Bentley’s parent company Volkswagen Group, said: “Bentley fans all around the world are looking forward to the brand’s first SUV. Together we will make this new Bentley another true Bentley – powerful, exclusive and successful.”
No hint has been given of what the Bentley SUV will look like, apart from the sketch above which was released by the company.
